HAPPY ROCKY began only fairly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of GOOD DAYS. HAPPY ROCKY then lost ground when crowded for room between EXALTATION and GOOD DAYS which became unbalanced when taken out by GALA NIGHT. YOU HAVE MY WORD and SALTO OLIMPICO bumped at the start. After this, YOU HAVE MY WORD was steadied to obtain cover. VICTORY VISION was crowded for room shortly after the start between MISTER MONTE and DRAGON COMMANDER, both of which shifted ground. Then, from the outside barriers, VICTORY VISION and DRAGON COMMANDER were steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Passing the 2000 Metres, BULLISH GLORY got its head up when awkwardly placed behind GALA NIGHT. For some distance approaching the 1800 Metres, CROWN AVENUE got its head up when awkwardly placed behind EXALTATION. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CROWN AVENUE was steadied away from the heels of EXALTATION which was also steadied as GIANT TURTLE was eased to obtain cover behind MISTER MONTE. Near the 850 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was checked away from the heels of EXALTATION. Passing the 500 Metres, EXALTATION and GOOD DAYS raced tight. At the 300 Metres, DRAGON COMMANDER became awkward on the heels of HAPPY ROCKY (M L Yeung) when being directed to the inside of that horse which shifted out. M L Yeung was reprimanded and told to exercise due care when riding his mounts out, particularly rounding a turn. Near the 250 Metres, HAPPY ROCKY shifted out and inconvenienced CROWN AVENUE. CROWN AVENUE and HAPPY ROCKY then raced tight until passing the 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of GIANT TURTLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD DAYS, GALA NIGHT and BULLISH GLORY were sent for sampling.
