CUE THE MUSIC and VICTORY IN HAND bumped at the start. VICTORY IN HAND then shifted out, resulting in COMPASSION SPIRIT being taken out and becoming badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by STAY CHILL which was checked when crowded for room inside BEAUTY SPARK which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. In this incident, VICTORY IN HAND also became unbalanced after bumping with COMPASSION SPIRIT. JOLLY GOOD HEART shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped KEEP YOU WARM which became unbalanced, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of LORIZ, causing that horse to become unbalanced. From wide barriers, PING HAI GALAXY and JOLLY GOOD HEART were steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1100 Metres, VICTORY IN HAND got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CUE THE MUSIC. For some distance after the 1100 Metres, JOLLY GOOD HEART proved very difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover. Near the 1050 Metres, BEAUTY SPARK momentarily raced in restricted room between STAY CHILL which was awkwardly placed outside COMPASSION SPIRIT and PING HAI GALAXY which shifted in marginally. Approaching the 900 Metres, JOLLY GOOD HEART shifted in abruptly when continuing to prove very difficult to settle. After the 850 Metres, KEEP YOU WARM travelled wide and without cover. Passing the 850 Metres, PING HAI GALAXY raced tight outside COMPASSION SPIRIT which shifted out. This resulted in COMPASSION SPIRIT and PING HAI GALAXY bumping near the 800 Metres. After the race, J Moreira said that VICTORY IN HAND was making an abnormal breathing noise over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of VICTORY IN HAND immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic issue. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that JOLLY GOOD HEART had sustained an overreach wound to the left front leg. A veterinary inspection of PING HAI GALAXY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. COMPASSION SPIRIT, CALIFORNIA RAD and SHAMPORT were sent for sampling.
