WAR LORD began awkwardly, got its head up and shifted in, resulting in TIGER GLARE being bumped and taken in onto NOBLE CONSORT. Shortly after the start, HAPPY VICTORY and SPEEDY DRAGON bumped. From the outside barrier, SHIMMER AND SHINE was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages. Passing the 1050 Metres, MAGIC SUPREME was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMILING SUCCESS. Then approaching the 1000 Metres, MAGIC SUPREME shifted out and hampered GOLDEN LINK when it remained awkwardly placed behind SMILING SUCCESS. Rounding the Home Turn, HAPPY VICTORY lay out and made contact with the hindquarters of HARD PROMISE, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. After the 300 Metres, GOLDEN LINK shifted in under pressure. Passing the 150 Metres, SHIMMER AND SHINE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TIGER GLARE which shifted out before being straightened. TIGER GLARE was then shifted out away from the heels of HARD PROMISE near the 100 Metres, resulting in SHIMMER AND SHINE being checked away from the heels of TIGER GLARE and stumbling. Throughout the race, HARD PROMISE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, Apprentice K H Chan (MAGIC SUPREME) stated that, in his opinion, the horse was suited last start by the yielding track. He said today on the firmer surface MAGIC SUPREME did not travel as comfortably as it did last start and then failed to finish off the race in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of MAGIC SUPREME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of WAR LORD, HARD PROMISE and JADE THEATRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FIRST RESPONDER and GOLDEN LINK were sent for sampling. <22/6/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on NOBLE CONSORT at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE CONSORT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HARD PROMISE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. HARD PROMISE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer T P Yung this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, HARD PROMISE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
