On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to ERA KING was replaced.
HEY PAL shifted out at the start and bumped SKY FIELD which began awkwardly. This resulted in SKY FIELD losing ground.
ERA KING began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its gate, resulting in the horse losing ground.
From a wide barrier, TAILOR MADE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 1050 Metres, COPARTNER ERA was steadied away from the heels of GOLD 'N’ BOLD which shifted in away from HIN YUEN BIS which in turn got its head on the side and shifted in away from READY CONQUEROR which shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider.
Also near the 1050 Metres, HEY PAL was crowded for room inside FORTUNE HERO which, after being cleared by READY CONQUEROR, then shifted in away from the heels of that horse after being very awkwardly placed behind READY CONQUEROR which at this stage lost momentum and shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no carelessness exhibited by any rider in this incident, no further action was taken.
Near the 850 Metres, ADONIS raced tight inside YEE CHEONG PEGASUS which was taken in by GOLD 'N’ BOLD which got its head on the side and shifted in away from FORTUNE HERO and then was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse near the 800 Metres.
J Moreira (MORE THAN ENOUGH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of READY CONQUEROR, resulting in that horse being unnecessarily crowded for room and being checked away from the heels of MORE THAN ENOUGH and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In this incident, KINDA COOL, which was racing inside READY CONQUEROR, was hampered when momentarily tightened. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 8 July 2020. As such, J Moreira is eligible to resume race riding on Thursday, 9 July 2020. In addition, Jockey Moreira was fined $75,000.
After the 600 Metres, FORTUNE HERO was left racing wide and without cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, READY CONQUEROR lost ground when momentarily crowded for room between YEE CHEONG PEGASUS and FORTUNE HERO which shifted in marginally.
SKY FIELD lay out rounding the Home Turn and then at the entrance to the Straight was brushed and taken wider by HEY PAL which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GOLD 'N’ BOLD which shifted out after bumping with ADONIS.
YEE CHEONG PEGASUS was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 350 Metres shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so brushed FORTUNE HERO.
Passing the 400 Metres, KINDA COOL and MORE THAN ENOUGH came into contact. KINDA COOL was then held up for clear running until passing the 300 Metres at which stage MORE THAN ENOUGH got its head on the side and shifted out away from KINDA COOL and bumped YEE CHEONG PEGASUS which became unbalanced.
Passing the 200 Metres, COPARTNER ERA was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GOLD 'N’ BOLD which shifted out after bumping LUCKY GUY.
Also passing the 200 Metres, H T Mo (HEY PAL) dropped his whip. As this was the third occasion this season that H T Mo has been reported to have dropped his whip during a race, he was placed on notice that should he offend similarly in the near future, disciplinary action may be taken.
SKY FIELD shifted out abruptly approaching the 50 Metres, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten that horse.
KINDA COOL, YEE CHEONG PEGASUS and SKY FIELD were sent for sampling.
