PERFECT TO PLAY lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and lost ground at the start. From the outside barrier, SUNNY SMILE was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. At the entrance to the Straight, MALDIVES and HAPPY JAI JAI raced tight as MALDIVES improved to be racing tight inside the heels of CHARIZARD. The performance of A SHIN CHALLENGE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, A SHIN CHALLENGE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of A SHIN CHALLENGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, J Moreira (REGENCY MASTER) stated that from an awkward barrier, he attempted to find cover behind the leading division in the run to the winning post on the first occasion. He said however approaching the 1300 Metres REGENCY MASTER was left racing three wide and without cover. He said after leaving the 800 Metres SURE WIN WIN shifted out from behind CHAIRMAN LO which forced REGENCY MASTER into a four wide position and no sooner had this occurred, V CHEVALIERS improved into the vacant position behind SURE WIN WIN which prevented him from then being able to shift in and find cover behind that horse. He added REGENCY MASTER then came under pressure prior to the Home Turn and did not close off the race. He said the circumstances of the race were against REGENCY MASTER as the horse was forced to do too much work when racing wide and without cover carrying top weight. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MALDIVES and CHARIZARD were sent for sampling.
