WORLD FAMOUS was slow to begin.
NOBLE STEED began only fairly and was inconvenienced by FARSHAD which shifted out at the start.
KASI FARASI shifted out at the start and inconvenienced KING’S CAPITAL.
From wide barriers, HELENE WISDOM STAR, SAVAQUIN and CABLE SPEED were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CINQUANTE CINQ was momentarily crowded for room between BEAUTY SPARK and SURREALISM.
CINQUANTE CINQ was left racing wide and without cover at the 1200 Metres and consequently was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead at the 600 Metres.
At the 1000 Metres, WORLD FAMOUS was checked away from the heels of ROYAL BOMB.
Passing the 200 Metres, ROYAL BOMB shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of SURREALISM.
Approaching the 100 Metres, HELENE WISDOM STAR shifted in and made contact with FARSHAD which was taken out slightly by KING’S CAPITAL. FARSHAD and HELENE WISDOM STAR were then momentarily crowded for room between BEAUTY SPARK and KING’S CAPITAL which continued to shift out before being corrected. KING’S CAPITAL was then directed to the inside of the heels of CINQUANTE CINQ to continue improving.
Approaching the finishing line, HELENE WISDOM STAR was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SAVAQUIN which shifted in under pressure.
Over the concluding stages, CINQUANTE CINQ was also awkwardly placed outside the heels of ROYAL BOMB which shifted out under pressure.
When questioned regarding SURREALISM leading, A Hamelin stated that he was instructed to ride the horse in 4th or 5th position, however, SURREALISM jumped extremely well and without being ridden along took up a forward position. He said approaching the winning post on the first occasion he was racing in a four wide position outside CINQUANTE CINQ and with the pace being slow he did not feel it was appropriate to restrain the horse at this stage, therefore he allowed SURREALISM to roll forward gradually to assume the lead approaching the 1200 Metres rather than remain racing wide and without cover. He added he did not have to ride SURREALISM along to achieve this and the horse continued to travel comfortably with the pace of the race remaining slow.
After the race, Z Purton reported that HELENE WISDOM STAR made a significant breathing noise on pulling up. A veterinary inspection of HELENE WISDOM STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SAVAQUIN and ROYAL BOMB were sent for sampling.
