GOLDEN LINK, which took control of its rider behind the barriers and made contact with a running rail, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race.
ZONE D lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and was slow to begin.
From wide barriers, UNIVERSAL CROWN and EL JEFE were shifted across behind runners soon after the start.
Soon after the start, SEAWEED FORTUNE was crowded for room between TRAVEL GLORY which was taken in by PEARL CHAMPION and ULTRA EXPRESS which was taken out by BEST FOR YOU. After losing ground in this incident, SEAWEED FORTUNE was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.
GOLDEN LINK travelled very wide and without cover from the 900 Metres and in the Straight gave ground.
GREEN ENVY was left racing wide and without cover approaching the 800 Metres.
ZONE D was held up for clear running from passing the 400 Metres until approaching the 150 Metres where it shifted to the outside of the heels of ULTRA EXPRESS to improve.
Approaching the 50 Metres, MORE THAN ENOUGH, which was giving ground, shifted out and inconvenienced TRAVEL GLORY and PEARL CHAMPION. MORE THAN ENOUGH was promptly straightened by its rider.
Also approaching the 50 Metres, SEAWEED FORTUNE was shifted to the outside of the heels of DIAMOND RHYME to continue improving.
C Y Ho (SEAWEED FORTUNE) was fined the sum of $5,000 for using his whip forward of the saddle in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN LINK and MORE THAN ENOUGH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WINS ALL, ULTRA EXPRESS and GREEN ENVY were sent for sampling.
