DUKE WAI began awkwardly and bumped the hindquarters of GOLD CHEST, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT also began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. SPEND shifted out at the start and made contact with the hindquarters of ROMAN TURBO. From a wide barrier, YOUNG LEGEND was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, HANDSOME BO BO commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TEAM SPIRIT. RACING FIGHTER was held up for clear running from the 400 Metres until after passing the 200 Metres. Leaving the 300 Metres, A Hamelin (YOUNG LEGEND) momentarily dropped his left rein. DUKE WAI was held up for clear running from on straightening and at the 250 Metres was shifted to the inside of the heels of CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and HANDSOME BO BO to continue improving. After passing the 200 Metres, DUKE WAI was again badly held up before obtaining a narrow run between the tiring TEAM SPIRIT and HANDSOME BO BO passing the 100 Metres. Approaching the 50 Metres, DUKE WAI shifted in and brushed TEAM SPIRIT. Throughout the race, ALL IN MIND travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of GOLD CHEST, TEAM SPIRIT, CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and HANDSOME BO BO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT, BEAUTY APPLAUSE and GUY DRAGON were sent for sampling.
