Steward Report Predict Pace Map
WORLD FAMOUS, which kicked a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the barriers and found to be suitable to race. CHAMPION SUPREME was slow to begin. AWE shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of CALIFORNIA TEN. Approaching the 1600 Metres, CALIFORNIA TEN was shifted in away from the heels of ABOVE (J Moreira) which shifted in before being directed back out. J Moreira was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After the 1200 Metres, LONDON HALL was left racing wide and without cover and near the 1000 Metres became unbalanced of its own accord. LONDON HALL then gave ground in the Straight and finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of LONDON HALL immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in its trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. The performance of LONDON HALL was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LONDON HALL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ABOVE was unable to obtain clear running from on straightening until near the 200 Metres. Then after improving into tight running between WORLD FAMOUS and CHARITY FUN near the 200 Metres, ABOVE raced tight outside WORLD FAMOUS (K C Leung) until after the 100 Metres as WORLD FAMOUS shifted out under pressure. K C Leung was reprimanded and told that in the opinion of the Stewards he should have straightened his mount far sooner than he did on this occasion. Passing the 100 Metres, ARROGANT was shifted out away from the heels of CHARITY FUN. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CHARITY FUN, K Teetan stated that it was anticipated that LOOKING GREAT, which was drawn immediately to the inside of CHARITY FUN, may lead which would provide his mount with the opportunity to shift across with that horse and obtain a forward position from the outside barrier. He said after initially following LOOKING GREAT across in the early stages, he had to make some use of CHARITY FUN approaching and passing the 1300 Metres to clear LOOKING GREAT which at this stage was racing in a one-off position outside and behind the leader WORLD FAMOUS. He said although he did not have to ride his mount along to improve at this stage, he did feel that having to improve forward of LOOKING GREAT took some energy out of CHARITY FUN. He said after shifting across to race outside WORLD FAMOUS, CHARITY FUN travelled only fairly and when LONDON HALL improved its position around CHARITY FUN after the 700 Metres, CHARITY FUN immediately came under pressure. He said he attempted to hold CHARITY FUN up rounding the Home Turn as he was concerned that the horse was not going to finish off the race as strongly as anticipated and after commencing to ride his mount along in the early part of the Straight CHARITY FUN was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. He added CHARITY FUN was only having its third race start in Hong Kong and last start when successful was able to obtain a position with cover behind the lead which was in contrast to today’s race. A veterinary inspection of CHARITY FUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CHARITY FUN, favourite for today’s race and a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHARITY FUN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FLYING MIGHTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CHARITY FUN, VINCY and LOOKING GREAT were sent for sampling.
