FANTASTIC SHOW was slow to begin. ROMANTIC COMBO shifted out at the start and bumped BAY TIBBS. From the outside barrier, SMART FOLKS was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. From a wide barrier, SERIOUS LIAISON was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, INVINCIBLE MISSILE was slow to muster speed. After the 1000 Metres, TEMPEST EXPRESS was left racing wide and without cover and was then taken wider again passing the 750 Metres when taken out by KA YING EXCELLENT which in turn was taken out by VITRALITE which shifted out away from the heels of ALL FOR SOUTH. Near the 850 Metres, when momentarily racing tight inside BAY TIBBS, INVINCIBLE MISSILE became unbalanced of its own accord and lost some ground. ROMANTIC COMBO and INVINCIBLE MISSILE had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 300 Metres raced tight as both horses attempted to improve into tight running between VITRALITE and KA YING EXCELLENT. This resulted in ROMANTIC COMBO racing tight inside the hindquarters of INVINCIBLE MISSILE for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres. SERIOUS LIAISON had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 250 Metres. Approaching the 150 Metres, INVINCIBLE MISSILE was struck across the nose by the whip of N Callan (KA YING EXCELLENT). After the 100 Metres, BAY TIBBS shifted out under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding and correct his mount. Near the 50 Metres, CLASSIC POSH raced tight outside HORSESAIN BOLT which shifted out away from BAY TIBBS. A veterinary inspection of TEMPEST EXPRESS and ROMANTIC COMBO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ROMANTIC COMBO, SERIOUS LIAISON and BAY TIBBS were sent for sampling.
