LOTUS FAVORITES, which bumped a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and found to be suitable to race.
LOTUS FAVORITES was slow to begin.
FAMILY FOLKS began awkwardly, shifted out on jumping and bumped SMART WONGCHOY.
DRAGON FORTUNE and VIGOR CHAMP brushed on jumping.
FORTUNE CARRIER shifted in abruptly on jumping, resulting in PEGASUS GLORY being hampered and taken in onto IRON KING which was checked when crowded for room outside AUGUST MOON which became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by IRON KING. As the rider of FORTUNE CARRIER attempted to prevent his mount from shifting in, that horse became badly unbalanced in its action and lost ground. Then from the outside barrier, FORTUNE CARRIER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
IRON KING was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 400 Metres, FORTUNE CARRIER was shifted out away from the heels of GO GO SIXTEEN which shifted out marginally away from SEASONS BLISS which improved to the outside of PEGASUS GLORY.
Throughout the race, AUGUST MOON and PEGASUS GLORY travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, K Teetan stated that it was anticipated that DRAGON FORTUNE would be able to obtain a midfield position. He said after beginning positively on DRAGON FORTUNE, he was not able to clear GALLANT EXPRESS to his inside and when it appeared as though that horse was going to remain racing one horse off the rail, he elected to steady DRAGON FORTUNE and obtain cover behind GALLANT EXPRESS which was slightly further back in the field than had been anticipated.
A veterinary inspection of GO GO SIXTEEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GALLANT EXPRESS and SMART WONGCHOY were sent for sampling.
