On arrival at the Start, C Y Ho, the rider of SUNNY BOY, expressed concern regarding the action of the horse. SUNNY BOY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was lame in its right front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, SUNNY BOY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, SUNNY BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PRIVATE ROCKET (Apprentice C L Chau) stumbled at the start and consequently lost ground. Then despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, PRIVATE ROCKET failed to muster speed. After the race, Apprentice Chau explained that it was intended for PRIVATE ROCKET to be ridden in a forward position. RESOLUTE shifted out at the start and bumped FLYING BONUS. MIG ENERGY was crowded for room on jumping between LIKE THAT and SIGHT SUCCESS, both of which shifted ground. This resulted in all three horses becoming unbalanced. From the outside barrier, MEGA HEART was steadied in the early stages, however, travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. Passing the 800 Metres, LIKE THAT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIGHT SUCCESS (J Moreira) which shifted in when not quite clear. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Near the 750 Metres, MIG ENERGY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LIKE THAT and shifted in which resulted in MIG ENERGY racing in restricted room between LIKE THAT and CZARSON. MIG ENERGY then lost ground passing the 700 Metres when unable to improve between CZARSON and LIKE THAT. Passing the 600 Metres, LIKE THAT raced in restricted room between MEGA HEART and CZARSON which shifted out away from the heels of GUNNISON. Then passing the 500 Metres, LIKE THAT, which continued to race tight between MEGA HEART and CZARSON, lost ground when unable to maintain its position between those horses as a result of MEGA HEART shifting in marginally. At the 450 Metres, GUNNISON was momentarily awkwardly placed between SIGHT SUCCESS and KA YING MASTER. Passing the 250 Metres, CZARSON and LIKE THAT bumped. A veterinary inspection of GUNNISON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SIGHT SUCCESS, KA YING MASTER and PRIVATE ROCKET were sent for sampling.
