INDIGENOUS REALM was crowded for room on jumping between IAN and SCIENCE PATCH which shifted in. From the outside barriers, ARMOUR EAGLE and GALLANT EXPRESS were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. After the 900 Metres, IAN was left racing wide and without cover and was then ridden along to improve its position, however, continued to race wide and without cover. After the 800 Metres, ROCK YA HEART was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SCIENCE PATCH (C L Chau) which, after obtaining the lead, was then steadied. C L Chau was reprimanded and told to ensure that he does not steady his mounts in such a manner as to reduce the speed of the race too abruptly. Rounding the Home Turn, PACKING VICTORY and EXCELLENT DADDY raced very tight and bumped on two occasions as PACKING VICTORY attempted to shift to the outside of IAN as EXCELLENT DADDY improved to be racing outside PACKING VICTORY. Then in the early part of the Straight, PACKING VICTORY raced tight inside the heels of EXCELLENT DADDY when continuing to attempt to improve into tight running between that horse and IAN. After briefly obtaining clear running passing the 400 Metres, PACKING VICTORY was steadied away from the heels of EXCELLENT DADDY (K C Leung) which shifted in. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. After this, PACKING VICTORY lay out under pressure and near the 200 Metres was corrected by its rider. PACKING VICTORY then continued to lay out under pressure until the concluding stages. Near the 150 Metres, IAN shifted in when giving ground, resulting in INDIGENOUS REALM and BIRDSVILLE being crowded for room. After the 100 Metres, K Teetan (THE GOLDEN SCENERY) dropped his right rein. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that IAN had bled from both nostrils. THE GOLDEN SCENERY and PACKING VICTORY were sent for sampling.
