SPECIAL M lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and was slow to begin. When being steadied on jumping to obtain cover, DECISIVE TWELVE shifted out and bumped ASTRO KING. From the outside barrier, MY ECSTATIC was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. DECISIVE TWELVE travelled keenly when being steadied passing the 900 Metres to obtain cover behind WIND SPEEDER. After this, DECISIVE TWELVE continued to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of WIND SPEEDER approaching the 800 Metres. ASTRO KING, which was following, was hampered in consequence. After the 600 Metres, GOOD VIEW CLARICO was left racing wide and without cover. FABULOUS EIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Approaching the 150 Metres, STOLTZ shifted in and brushed BRILLIANT FORTUNE. This resulted in STOLTZ having to be corrected by its rider who changed the whip over from his left hand. Passing the winning post, SPECIAL M shifted in and bumped STOLTZ. A veterinary inspection of DECISIVE TWELVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FABULOUS EIGHT, SPECIAL M and STOLTZ were sent for sampling.
