The start of the race was delayed when K Teetan (SUPER FLAMES) was treated by the Club’s Chief Medical Officer for a superficial cut to the middle fingers of both hands on arrival at the barriers.
JOY MASTER lost ground on jumping when crowded for room between INCREDIBLE and PAKISTAN ZINDABAD which shifted out.
From wide barriers, DAILY CHARM, SUPER FLAMES and FIGURES TWO were all steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
DIAMOND STAR was also steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover.
Passing the 1400 Metres, LUCKY MISSILE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD after being taken in by RIGHTEOUS WIN (M F Poon) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. M F Poon was reprimanded and told to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, LUCKY MISSILE was steadied away from the heels of RIGHTEOUS WIN which shifted in when not quite clear. M F Poon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Near the 1200 Metres, WAH MAY LUCK was left racing wide and without cover.
K H Chan (JOY MASTER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that between the 800 Metres and the 700 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out and in doing so took FIGURES TWO wider and made contact with that horse on a number of occasions, resulting in FIGURES TWO becoming unbalanced and being unnecessarily hampered. In the circumstances, K H Chan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 1 January 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 6 January 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Chan was fined $20,000.
Approaching the 700 Metres, FIGURES TWO raced tight outside JOY MASTER which shifted out.
Approaching the 600 Metres, WAH MAY LUCK was bumped by RIGHTEOUS WIN which shifted out away from the heels of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD.
Approaching the 100 Metres, SUPER FLAMES was shifted out away from the heels of HEROIC CHAMPION.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MISSILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FIGURES TWO, INCREDIBLE and LIGHT MY DAY were sent for sampling.
