SCOTCH TYCOON and SUPER COMMANDER were crowded for room on jumping between TRAVEL DATUK and KA YING SPIRIT, both of which shifted ground.
STAR OF WUYI shifted out at the start and bumped AMAZING ROCKY. After this, from a wide barrier, STAR OF WUYI was shifted across behind runners.
KA YING SPIRIT travelled keenly in the early stages.
STAR OF WUYI made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and bumped JAZZ STEED.
At the 300 Metres, SUPER COMMANDER was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER CLASS which got its head on the side and lay in.
At the 50 Metres, STAR OF WUYI, which was finishing the race off, was shifted out away from the heels of KA YING SPIRIT (K Teetan) which commenced to shift out under pressure. This resulted in STAR OF WUYI being awkwardly placed inside EXCELLENT PEERS and having to be steadied to avoid the heels of that horse. Because of this, STAR OF WUYI was not able to be properly tested over the concluding stages. KA YING SPIRIT was then shifted in to relieve the crowding to STAR OF WUYI. K Teetan was advised to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, PACKING CHAMPION travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on AMAZING ROCKY at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING ROCKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of JAZZ STEED and DASHING GENIUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LIGHTNING STORM, SCOTCH TYCOON and EXCELLENT PEERS were sent for sampling.
