VECTOR began only fairly and then was crowded for room a short distance after the start between SHENRON which began awkwardly and was bumped by TOWARDS SUCCESS and OURGOLDENRULES which shifted out. After this, SHENRON travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain a position with cover. SUPER FLAMES shifted out at the start and bumped HAPPY TIME which became unbalanced. Then from a wide barrier, SUPER FLAMES was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From a wide barrier, DRAGON KINGDOM was also steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. TOWARDS SUCCESS was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. ALLOY KING lost its left front plate on jumping. After the race, A Hamelin stated that ALLOY KING travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, after being asked for an effort passing the 400 Metres the horse did not quicken and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of ALLOY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Passing the 1000 Metres, HAPPY TIME commenced to travel keenly and near the 900 Metres shifted in and inconvenienced SHENRON. After the 800 Metres, VECTOR was steadied away from the heels of SHENRON. Passing the 700 Metres, OURGOLDENRULES was taken wider and without cover by TELECOM MISSILE which shifted out from behind BOYS PARTY. At the entrance to the Straight, SHENRON raced tight outside the heels of HAPPY TIME which improved to the outside of OURGOLDENRULES. SHENRON then continued to be awkwardly placed outside HAPPY TIME until near the 300 Metres. SUPER FLAMES had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres and approaching the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HAPPY TIME when held up for clear running. SUPER FLAMES was then shifted in away from the heels of HAPPY TIME passing the 100 Metres to obtain clear running. Passing the 250 Metres, BOYS PARTY was steadied when crowded for room inside TELECOM MISSILE (B Shinn) which shifted in. B Shinn was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to do more than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. TELECOM MISSILE and NOBLE BOYZ were sent for sampling.
