BEAUTY CHEERS, which was difficult to load, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test prior to being permitted to race again. SUPER FLAMES shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in LITTLE PLAYER losing ground when crowded for room inside GALLANT CAVALIER. CORDYCEPS ONE shifted out away from ALL YOU KNOW on jumping and in doing so bumped ONE STEP AHEAD, resulting in CORDYCEPS ONE and ONE STEP AHEAD both being hampered. After this, from the outside barriers, CORDYCEPS ONE and ONE STEP AHEAD were shifted across behind runners. TOWARDS SUCCESS was also steadied on jumping to obtain cover. Approaching the 1100 Metres, FARM BUMPER got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover. After this, FARM BUMPER continued to prove difficult to settle. Approaching the 1000 Metres, TOWARDS SUCCESS was crowded for room inside ALL YOU KNOW (B Shinn) which improved to be racing inside the heels of GALLANT CAVALIER (R Maia) which was shifting in. GALLANT CAVALIER was then shifted out to relieve the tightening and ridden along to clear ALL YOU KNOW which continued to be ridden to maintain its position inside GALLANT CAVALIER. GALLANT CAVALIER then shifted in marginally, resulting in ALL YOU KNOW being taken in and causing TOWARDS SUCCESS to lose ground when crowded for room. As the Stewards were of the opinion that there were some circumstances to this incident, no further action was taken other than R Maia was told that after becoming aware that ALL YOU KNOW had improved to his inside, he should have made more endeavour than he did to prevent his mount from shifting ground albeit the amount of ground that GALLANT CAVALIER had shifted was minimal. B Shinn was also advised to exercise care when improving into tight running when other riders may not be aware of his position. CORDYCEPS ONE, which was following TOWARDS SUCCESS, was hampered in consequence. Approaching the 700 Metres, ZACIAN was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of GALLANT CAVALIER which shifted in marginally when improving forward of that horse to race outside the lead after having raced wide and without cover. After the 700 Metres, ALL YOU KNOW was left racing wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, SUPER FLAMES lay out under pressure and approaching the 250 Metres shifted out and inconvenienced CORDYCEPS ONE. SUPER FLAMES again shifted out passing the 150 Metres when awkwardly placed behind BEAUTY CHEERS and brushed CORDYCEPS ONE. After the 300 Metres, SUNNY AND GOLD, which had been unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the Straight, was awkwardly placed behind ZACIAN and then approaching the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running. In the Straight, BEAUTY CHEERS (L Currie) lay out under pressure and near the 100 Metres shifted out, resulting in CORDYCEPS ONE being steadied and having to be shifted out away from behind BEAUTY CHEERS to avoid that horse’s heels. L Currie was reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding his mounts and making every endeavour to keep them on a straight course. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY CHEERS and ONE STEP AHEAD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DRAGON KINGDOM and SUNNY AND GOLD were sent for sampling.
