STORMTROUPER shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of WOOD ON FIRE. TRADER shifted in on jumping and bumped LUCKY ARCHANGEL which in turn shifted in and hampered JAZZ CLUB which then shifted in when unbalanced and bumped SKY FOREVER. After this, SKY FOREVER and JAZZ CLUB were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Also from the outside barrier, NEVER TOO SOON was steadied on jumping to obtain a position closer to the rail. MAGIC PHOENIX lost its right front plate in the early stages. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, WOOD ON FIRE got its head on the side and lay in despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in WOOD ON FIRE being checked away from the heels of SUPER DOBBIN. STORMTROUPER, which was racing to the inside of WOOD ON FIRE, was steadied and lost ground when crowded for room inside that horse. At the entrance to the Straight, DROPS OF GOD became unbalanced when bumped by SUPER DOBBIN which improved into tight running between DROPS OF GOD and MAGIC PHOENIX. Then approaching the 100 Metres, DROPS OF GOD, which was racing tight outside SUPER DOBBIN, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of STORMTROUPER which shifted in marginally. A veterinary inspection of DROPS OF GOD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MAGIC PHOENIX, YOU’REMYEVERYTHING and STORMTROUPER were sent for sampling.
