THE GOOD DEAL, which kicked a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race. DASHING GENIUS, which was kicked by a lead pony on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that in his opinion it was suitable to race. A short distance after the start, ACA POWER and PRINCE OF BON BON were crowded for room between HANDSOME GUYS which shifted out marginally and THE GOOD DEAL which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider when endeavouring to correct his mount. As a result of the crowding, PRINCE OF BON BON lost ground and ACA POWER was checked. From the outside barrier, WINS ALL was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, ACA POWER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINS ALL and as a result lost some ground. DIVINE ERA raced very wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 700 Metres. Near the 300 Metres, DASHING GENIUS shifted out and bumped WINS ALL, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Inside the 200 Metres, DASHING GENIUS shifted in away from the heels of DIVINE ERA to obtain clear running. After passing the 300 Metres, PRINCE OF BON BON had difficulty obtaining clear running and was shifted out near the 200 Metres to obtain an uninterrupted run to the finishing line. Throughout the race, THE GOOD DEAL travelled wide and without cover. The performance of CALL ME LU, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CALL ME LU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of CALL ME LU immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, L Ferraris (HANDSOME GUYS) reported that his mount hung out rounding the Home Turn and was taken wider by G ONE EXCELLENT at the same time and then failed to respond to his riding in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of HANDSOME GUYS immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HANDSOME GUYS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of TAKE WHAT YOU NEED and DASHING GENIUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FLYING ON THE TURF and G ONE EXCELLENT were sent for sampling.
