MULTISUPER began awkwardly. TIMESTORM shifted in at the start and bumped TOGEPI. DENFIELD shifted out on jumping and was steadied away from the heels of FUN TOGETHER. UNIVERSAL HORIZON was crowded for room at the start between AUGUST MOON and HAPPY HORSE. From the outside barriers, PINS PRINCE and ORIENTAL SPIRIT were shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. When being shifted across behind runners, PINS PRINCE commenced to travel strongly and approaching the 1100 Metres shifted in and bumped UNIVERSAL HORIZON which became unbalanced. At the entrance to the Straight, SUPER HIGHWAY raced close to the heels of DOUBLE SHOW when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running. At the 400 Metres, TOGEPI was crowded for room when improving into tight running between DOUBLE SHOW which got its head on the side and lay in and HAPPY HORSE which commenced to give ground. Near the 100 Metres, DOUBLE SHOW was steadied away from the heels of FUN TOGETHER (C L Chau) which shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. C L Chau was told to ensure that he is alert to his mounts shifting ground and makes every endeavour to straighten them in a timely manner. Close to the finishing line, VICTORY SCHOLARS and FUN TOGETHER raced tight. Also close to the finishing line, TOGEPI, which was finishing the race off well, was steadied when unable to improve between FUN TOGETHER which shifted in marginally and VICTORY SCHOLARS (Apprentice Y L Chung) which shifted out. Apprentice Chung was told that whilst there was some influence in this incident from FUN TOGETHER, nonetheless he was reprimanded and told to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. For the majority of the Home Straight, TIMESTORM was unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not able to be properly tested. Throughout the race, HAPPY HORSE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, PINS PRINCE was found to have bled from both nostrils. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that TOGEPI had sustained a small laceration to the right front leg. A veterinary inspection of MULTISUPER and DENFIELD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MULTISUPER, FUN TOGETHER and VICTORY SCHOLARS were sent for sampling.
