YELLOWFIN was withdrawn on 25.3.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPERB MOVE (S De Sousa). Before being allowed to race again, YELLOWFIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. STRATHPEFFER jumped awkwardly and made contact with the right side of its barrier. A short distance later, STRATHPEFFER then bumped heavily with SINGAPORE SPIRIT which was taken out by BLISSFUL LIFE, resulting in STRATHPEFFER and SINGAPORE SPIRIT becoming unbalanced. SINGAPORE SPIRIT lost its left hind plate at the start. FLYING GALLOP was slow to begin and then was checked when crowded between LOST CHILD and SUPERB MOVE which shifted out. In the early stages, FLYING GALLOP over-raced and refused to settle. From the outside barrier, MILLENNIUM FALCON was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. In the middle stages, GALVANIC raced keenly. Approaching the 300 Metres, KASI FARASI was held up for clear running when endeavouring to improve into a narrow run between DIAMOND FLARE and GALVANIC. When questioned, K C Leung (BLISSFUL LIFE) explained that he was instructed to have his mount ridden just off the speed, however, he was left with no other option but to lead with the horse racing keenly and returning from a long spell and blinkers on. After the race, M F Poon (GALLANT HERO) reported that his mount was reluctant to race inside other runners and particularly in the Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out. A veterinary inspection of GALLANT HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, SINGAPORE SPIRIT was noted to have a small amount of blood at its mouth. A veterinary inspection of STRATHPEFFER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GALVANIC, LOST CHILD and ARIEL were sent for sampling.
