On arrival at the Start, it was noted that JACK WIN had blood at its mouth. JACK WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. MIRACLES was slow to begin. SUNSHINE LEGENDARY jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with RAGING BLAZE. Then shortly afterwards, SUNSHINE LEGENDARY was hampered when crowded by SHENRON which shifted out. JACK WIN shifted in at the start and crowded SMART COUSIN. ENCORE jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was bumped by DAY DAY RICH which shifted out, resulting in ENCORE becoming unbalanced. Approaching the 1000 Metres, SUNSHINE LEGENDARY was eased to avoid the heels of JACK WIN. RAGING BLAZE, which was following and racing fiercely, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUNSHINE LEGENDARY and as a result shifted out and made contact with MIRACLES, taking that runner wider. RAGING BLAZE then continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages. VIVA A LA also raced keenly in the middle stages. SUNSHINE LEGENDARY was held up making the Home Turn. Near the 150 Metres, SUNSHINE LEGENDARY and SHENRON bumped when SHENRON shifted in and away from VIVA A LA. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres, RAGING BLAZE was held up for clear running behind JACK WIN. Then near the 100 Metres, RAGING BLAZE was directed to the outside of JACK WIN to secure clear running. Near the 50 Metres, ALLOY KING raced in restricted room between DAY DAY RICH and CHARMING STEED which shifted in slightly. After the race, K C Leung (SUNSHINE LEGENDARY) reported that his intention was to race in a more forward position, but settled further back when crossed by JACK WIN in the early stages. He added that SUNSHINE LEGENDARY was then not suited by the early pace being run slightly slower than standard and found it difficult to run on in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE LEGENDARY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned regarding his riding of DRAGON KINGDOM, S De Sousa stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position and he was given the option of leading if circumstances permitted. He said DRAGON KINGDOM jumped reasonably well but he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to take up a forward position and DRAGON KINGDOM was caught wide making the first turn. He added that entering the Back Straight he contemplated going forward and leading but as he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages and DRAGON KINGDOM was carrying 134 lbs, he was reluctant to continue to make use of his mount to do so. He said as a result he elected to have DRAGON KINGDOM travelling comfortably on the bit, however, was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter. A veterinary inspection of MIRACLES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of RAGING BLAZE immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. RAGING BLAZE, JACK WIN and CHARMING STEED were sent for sampling.
