STAR OF GLORY was withdrawn on 20.5.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EASY LIFE (H T Mo). Before being allowed to race again, STAR OF GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ALLOY STAR was bumped on jumping by BOYS PARTY which shifted in.
From the outside barrier, FOXHUNTER WAY was attempted to be shifted across behind runners in the early stages, but was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
From a wide barrier, SPICY SKEWER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early stages, EASY LIFE, which was inclined to race greenly, became awkwardly placed close to the heels of GENERAL WINNER when being shifted in.
Between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres, GENERAL WINNER was held up for clear running.
The performance of SPICY SKEWER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SPICY SKEWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SPICY SKEWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding MEDIC ELITE settling back in the field, M L Yeung stated that he was asked to ride his mount quieter today as at its last start when ridden on pace, MEDIC ELITE failed to finish the race off strongly. He added in accordance with his instructions, in the early stages he rode MEDIC ELITE in a conservative manner and after making contact with EASY LIFE at the start, he was obliged to race further back in the field in order to obtain cover. He said after riding his mount along from the 500 Metres, MEDIC ELITE ran home strongly. Trainer P C Ng confirmed the instructions issued and the reasons as to why he issued such instructions.
After the race, L Hewitson (INSPIRING CITY) reported that his intention was to settle back in the field with cover. He said after jumping awkwardly, INSPIRING CITY then raced keenly in the early stages and when the pace of the event was only average, he elected to allow INSPIRING CITY to take up a more forward position to avoid it continuing to race keenly. He added as a result of permitting his mount to go forward, INSPIRING CITY was unable to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of INSPIRING CITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, H T Mo (EASY LIFE) reported that his mount was making an abnormal breathing noise during the race. A veterinary inspection of EASY LIFE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of EASY LIFE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, EASY LIFE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY NOVA and HANDSOME GUYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BULB PRINCE and MEDIC ELITE were sent for sampling.
