Steward Report Predict Pace Map
DASHING WINNER was initially presented in the Parade Ring without its shadow roll which was part of the horse's declared gear. Mr B K Ng, trainer of DASHING WINNER, said due to the constraints placed upon him as a result of the late rider change, he was being hurried to present the horse in the Parade Ring on time and as such did not have an opportunity to ensure the horse was carrying its proper equipment. In the circumstances, the Stewards decided no action should be taken. On jumping, CARRY THE MAGIC became unbalanced and lost ground when crowded for room between DEMINER and THUNDER VALLEY. In the early stages, DASHING WINNER was taken across behind runners and making the Home Turn and in the Straight hung out. Approaching the turn at the 700 Metres, SAVUTE hung in and became unbalanced. Near the 700 Metres, GENERAL KINGY became unbalanced when bumped by CALIFORNIA HEART which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. After the 700 Metres, THUNDER VALLEY was left racing without cover. At the 600 Metres, MOSHI MOSHI raced tight inside THUNDER VALLEY. As a consequence of this near the 400 Metres, MOSHI MOSHI lost ground when being steadied away from the heels of DEMINER while continuing to race inside the heels of THUNDER VALLEY. At the 500 Metres, GENERAL KINGY was steadied away from the heels of THUNDER VALLEY. At the 250 Metres, GENERAL KINGY, which had travelled wide and was commencing to give ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed between CALIFORNIA HEART and TAIJI SPIRIT which at this time shifted out into clear running. Z Purton (MOSHI MOSHI) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position with cover if possible and that he was not to engage in a speed battle. He said because of this after riding MOSHI MOSHI along in the early stages to go forward, near the 900 Metres when DEMINER improved on his outside, he elected to allow that horse to cross to race outside GAUCHO to provide him with cover. He said to have maintained his position between GAUCHO and DEMINER would in his opinion have required him to make too much use of the horse and would have been contrary to his instructions. DEMINER and CENTURY SUPER STAR were sent for sampling.
