THE ONLY ONE was withdrawn on 6.10.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VITALITY CHAMP (Apprentice H W Lai). Before being allowed to race again, THE ONLY ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the gates opened, PACHINKO lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in that horse being slow to begin. RAIN CHECK knuckled over on jumping. EXCELLENT PLASTIC was checked at the start when crowded for room between WHISKY POWER which shifted in and MULTI KING which got its head in the air and shifted out. After this, EXCELLENT PLASTIC was then checked across behind runners to a position closer to the fence. From a wide barrier, AMAZING CHOISIR was taken across behind runners at the start. Approaching the 900 Metres, BATURO and MASCOT FORTUNE bumped when racing tight inside TERRAFERMA. Near the 800 Metres, MASCOT FORTUNE was checked when crowded for room inside BATURO which was racing greenly and shifted in away from TERRAFERMA (D Beadman) which itself shifted in momentarily at this stage. Whilst the Stewards were of the opinion BATURO had contributed to the incident by the manner in which it was racing, D Beadman was nonetheless reprimanded and advised he leaves sufficient racing room in similar circumstances. Passing the 700 Metres, TERRAFERMA was shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SILLY BOY. LUCKY DRAGON, which was following, was steadied in consequence. LUCKY DRAGON was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of TERRAFERMA for some distance after this. Passing the 600 Metres, VITALITY CHAMP was steadied when disappointed for running between MASCOT FORTUNE and EXPEDITIOUS which shifted in slightly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BATURO. MARIACHI hung out rounding the Home Turn. Shortly after straightening, BATURO was steadied when close to the heels of TERRAFERMA which shifted in slightly. Near the 400 Metres, AMAZING CHOISIR was held up for running behind MASCOT FORTUNE which at this time shifted to the outside of RAIN CHECK. Near the 200 Metres, SILLY BOY, which was commencing to give ground, was bumped by RAIN CHECK which shifted out when obtaining a narrow run between that horse and WHISKY POWER. SILLY BOY then shifted out, resulting in MASCOT FORTUNE being bumped and in turn shifting out abruptly, resulting in BATURO being checked when crowded onto the hindquarters of LUCKY DRAGON. AMAZING CHOISIR, which was following BATURO, was severely checked in consequence, shifted out and bumped VITALITY CHAMP which was also hampered. After this, MASCOT FORTUNE was shifted in to obtain clear running and near the 100 Metres again shifted in and bumped RAIN CHECK when racing close to the heels of TERRAFERMA. SILLY BOY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SILLY BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. MASCOT FORTUNE, PACHINKO and MARIACHI were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported MULTI KING had bled from both nostrils.
