SUPER POWER was slow to begin. On jumping, PACIFIC ALLIANCE, which had begun awkwardly, was steadied away from the heels of GOOD VIEW SUCCESS. After this, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was shifted across behind runners. In the middle stages, PACIFIC ALLIANCE proved difficult to settle. After the 700 Metres, LAZY BUDDIES was checked to avoid the heels of BEAR DOMINANCE which at this time shifted in when being steadied after being disappointed for running between KEY WINNER and SUPER POWER. At the 200 Metres, Apprentice K L Chui (KEY WINNER) dropped his whip. At the 100 Metres, LAZY BUDDIES was steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running to the inside of SPACED which was giving ground. In the Straight, when giving ground, GOOD VIEW SUCCESS hung in. When questioned regarding the poor performance of SPACED, Y T Cheng said when PRIME TARGET improved quickly around his outside to take up the lead at the 600 Metres, SPACED was unable to quicken to go forward with that horse. He said shortly after this for some distance he raced tight inside GOOD VIEW SUCCESS which was inclined to lay in and in his opinion this did not suit his mount. He said because of these circumstances he believed SPACED failed to close the race off tonight. SPACED, BEAR DOMINANCE and GOOD VIEW SUCCESS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SPACED was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of BEAR DOMINANCE and GOOD VIEW SUCCESS after the race did not show any significant findings. PRIME TARGET and MEATH were sent for sampling. Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 18 October 2007) BEAR DOMINANCE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BEAR DOMINANCE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BEAR DOMINANCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
