While in the holding stables, TELECOM OWNER lost its right hind plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, E Saint-Martin, the rider of QI'S PET, expressed concern over the horse’s action and in particular its right front leg. QI'S PET was examined by the Veterinary Officer positioned at the Start who said he was not able to detect any abnormality. E Saint-Martin said because of his concern over the action of QI'S PET, he did not wish to ride the horse. QI'S PET was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. QI'S PET was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, QI'S PET was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, QI'S PET will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WONG'S SUCCESS was a little slow to begin and then lost further ground when crowded for room between WONDERFUL BLESSING and PILLOW KING. SOLAR was slow to begin and then lost further ground when checked as a result of crowding between PROGRESSING TIMES and FUN which was carried out by TELECOM OWNER. No action was taken. After passing the 1000 Metres, TELECOM OWNER broke down and was immediately eased out of the race. When TELECOM OWNER broke down, inconvenience was caused to PROGRESSING TIMES, KING OF FISH, WONDERFUL BLESSING, PILLOW KING and CHATER DE LAGO, all of which were checked. Shortly after straightening, WONG'S SUCCESS, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of FUN which was giving ground. After the 200 Metres, WONG'S SUCCESS, which was continuing to have difficulty obtaining clear running, was shifted to the inside of BEAUTIFUL CHOICE. However, WONG'S SUCCESS was not able to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race and as such was not tested. For a considerable distance after the 200 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO, which was closing the race off strongly, had difficulty obtaining clear running inside PROGRESSING TIMES which was giving ground. BEAUTIFUL CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTIFUL CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. SOLAR and WONDERFUL BLESSING were sent for sampling.
