DRAGON INN was a little slow to begin, then lost further ground when crowded for room between MULTI-WIN SPIRIT and DIAMOND FLYER, both of which shifted ground. CARRY THE MAGIC began awkwardly, then lost further ground when becoming unbalanced after being crowded for room between GLOBE RIVER and ISLAND SUNRISE, both of which shifted ground. Near the 900 Metres, GLOBE RIVER became unbalanced and lost ground when crowded for room inside ISLAND SUNRISE which at this time was racing tight inside GLOBAL WAY (D Whyte) which shifted in momentarily. In the circumstances, D Whyte was advised that he should ensure at all times he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside. DRAGON INN and CARRY THE MAGIC, which were following, were hampered in consequence. When DRAGON INN was hampered, DIAMOND FLYER and FAST WINNER were inconvenienced and carried wider and CRUSH ON YOU was steadied. From on straightening until after the 300 Metres, GLOBAL WAY was held up and unable to improve. In the early part of the Straight, DRAGON INN had difficulty obtaining clear running. FAST WINNER and FILEBO were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FAST WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, FILEBO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it was distressed. The performance of FILEBO, which finished tailed out after being eased down over the final 200 Metres, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FILEBO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DIAMOND FLYER, ISLAND SUNRISE and AS YOU WISH were sent for sampling.
