TIGER PRAWN was withdrawn on 15.11.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore cannon). Before being allowed to race again, TIGER PRAWN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ABLE PRINCE began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, PLANET RULER was crowded for room between ABSOLUTE CHAMPION and SUNNY SING. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ABLE PRINCE. Then ABSOLUTE CHAMPION made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 300 Metres, PLANET RULER was steadied when disappointed for running inside SUNNY SING. E Saint-Martin (ABSOLUTE CHAMPION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he shifted his mount to the inside of SCINTILLATION when not clear of ABLE PRINCE and REGENCY HORSE, causing those horses to be crowded for room, lose their rightful running and be checked. The Stewards considered the appropriate penalty was for E Saint-Martin’s licence to ride in races to be suspended until Thursday 6 December 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension will commence on Monday 26 November 2007 on which day E Saint-Martin was eligible to resume riding in races from a previous suspension. In addition, E Saint-Martin was fined $50,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. In this incident, SUNNY SING, which was racing inside REGENCY HORSE, was hampered and PLANET RULER, which was following, was steadied in consequence. For some distance after the 200 Metres, SUNNY SING was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, SCINTILLATION travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight hung in. MEDIC POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MEDIC POWER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, MEDIC POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SACRED KINGDOM and ABSOLUTE CHAMPION were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported REGENCY HORSE had sustained an abrasion to the left hock.
