VICTORY START was withdrawn on 20.11.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY START will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VINTAGE GOLD, which was standing awkwardly, was slow to begin. AMAZING CHOICE began awkwardly. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, CHEERFUL HEART was steadied when crowded for room inside G-ONE LEADING which was carried in by MASTER DREAMER. No action was taken. At the 600 Metres, CHEERFUL HEART was steadied away from the heels of NAMJONG GOODLUCK. On straightening, NAMJONG GOODLUCK, which was endeavouring to obtain clear running, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of G-ONE LEADING. This caused both horses to become unbalanced. Passing the 200 Metres, VINTAGE GOLD was awkwardly placed outside the heels of AMAZING CHOICE. When questioned, F Coetzee (G-ONE LEADING) said after the 700 Metres he was aware CENTENNIAL SMILE commenced to improve on his outside. He said he did not consider shifting out from behind MASTER DREAMER into a three wide position as he considered to have done so at that point of the race would have required G-ONE LEADING to have made a long run. He said when it was successful at its most recent start, G-ONE LEADING improved its position from the 500 Metres. He also added in his opinion at that stage of the race it appeared to him runners positioned towards the inside were at a advantage. He said he was therefore reluctant to circle the field when he was travelling in a position one horse off the rail. The explanation of F Coetzee was reported. CHINSOLA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CHINSOLA was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being permitted to race again, CHINSOLA will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMAZING CHOICE and CENTENNIAL SMILE were sent for sampling.
