ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. In the early stages, TIGER RIDGE was taken across behind runners from the outside barrier. In the early and middle stages, BEAUTY PLUS travelled wide and without cover. Apprentice K L Chui (COUNTRY MAGIC) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SPEED FIGHTER and SOLAR MIGHTY, causing those horses to be crowded for room, lose their rightful running to which they were entitled and be checked. Apprentice Chui was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 2 December 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 25 November 2007. In addition, Apprentice Chui was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. When SPEED FIGHTER and SOLAR MIGHTY checked, AMO and LUCKY FRUIT, which were following, were hampered in consequence. At the 800 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER, which was racing ungenerously and hanging out, shifted out and then raced wide without cover. Making the Home Turn, MACHO EXPRESSO bumped the running rail and became unbalanced when crowded for room inside COUNTRY MAGIC which shifted in slightly. Apprentice Chui was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to allow runners on his inside comfortable racing room. Passing the 100 Metres, AMO was checked when disappointed for running between THE WORLD OF LOVE and LUCKY FRUIT, both of which shifted ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After the 100 Metres, SPEED FIGHTER was steadied when awkwardly placed between COUNTRY MAGIC and MR COOL. Over the concluding stages, SPEED FIGHTER was again steadied when disappointed for running between COUNTRY MAGIC and MR COOL, both of which shifted ground. FLAG FINDER, which was following SPEED FIGHTER, was steadied away from the heels of that runner. Because of this, SPEED FIGHTER and FLAG FINDER were not ridden out to the end of the race as they normally would be. COUNTRY MAGIC, SOLAR MIGHTY and MR COOL were sent for sampling.
