THE GOODIES was slow to begin. FIVE GRAINS was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between MAGIC TEMPLE and ANKH MORPORK which was carried in by KING ACRYLIC. In the early and middle stages, SPECIAL DAYS proved difficult to settle. For some distance after straightening, FAT CHOY FOREVER was carried back when unable to shift out from behind BODACIOUS which was giving ground. For a considerable distance after straightening, DASHING THUNDER was held up and unable to improve. For the major part of the race, DR WELL travelled wide and without cover. SPECIAL DAYS and DANESIS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported FIVE GRAINS had bled from both nostrils and BODACIOUS had lost its left front plate.
