Prior to entering the Parade ring, CRAIG’S DRAGON had its left front plate reset. CRAIG’S DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CHINA WIN and CRAIG’S DRAGON were slow to begin. SUPER GENERAL began awkwardly, resulting in Z Purton, its rider, becoming unbalanced. From the outside barrier, LE ROSSIGNOL was taken across behind runners. In the early stages, SUPER GENERAL, which was racing ungenerously, got its head up on several occasions. Also in the early stages, CHINA WIN proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, ALWAYS GIGGLE, which had been proving difficult to settle, was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY HOME TOWN which itself was steadied while awkwardly placed inside KINGIFLY which was racing tight inside ROCKET POWER. SUPER FIGHTER, which was following, was checked in consequence. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After the 800 Metres, SUPER GENERAL was left racing without cover. On straightening, KINGIFLY became unbalanced after being bumped by SUPER GENERAL. In the early part of the Straight, MY HOME TOWN had difficulty obtaining clear running. Over the concluding stages, MY HOME TOWN hung out. Also over the concluding stages, SUPER FIGHTER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KINGIFLY. As a consequence, SUPER FIGHTER was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. MY HOME TOWN and ROCKET POWER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported KINGIFLY had lost its right hind plate.
