Steward Report Predict Pace Map
NIGHT HUNTER III was slow to begin. Approaching the 1600 Metres, CHAMPION PIONEER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WONG'S SUCCESS. NIGHT HUNTER III, which was following, was steadied in consequence. At the same time, LAZY BUDDIES was steadied away from the heels of ROCKALOT. From on straightening until after the 200 Metres, WONG'S SUCCESS had difficulty obtaining clear running. For some distance after the 200 Metres, CHAMPION PIONEER had difficulty obtaining clear running and at the 50 Metres was checked when disappointed for running between DASH and HAPPY ALL AROUND which after initially shifting out then shifted in. As the Stewards were satisfied CHAMPION PIONEER had not established rightful running to the inside of HAPPY ALL AROUND, no action was taken. When CHAMPION PIONEER was checked, it shifted in and bumped DASH which as a result became unbalanced. In the Straight, NIGHT HUNTER III hung in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, ELEPHANT DANCE travelled wide and without cover and making the Home Turn hung out. When questioned regarding the poor performance of ROCKALOT, G Boss was not able to offer any explanation. He said ROCKALOT travelled comfortably in front of midfield in a moderately run race. He said at the 600 Metres he endeavoured to commence improving towards the inside of ELEPHANT DANCE, however, ROCKALOT did not carry him forward as it has done in the past. He said in the Straight when under pressure ROCKALOT did not respond to his riding. Mr P F Yiu, trainer of ROCKALOT, was not able to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said he did note ROCKALOT appeared to be blowing considerably after the race. He said he will now consider dropping ROCKALOT back in distance if a suitable race is available for its next start. ROCKALOT was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, ROCKALOT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making a respiratory noise. ELEPHANT DANCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ELEPHANT DANCE after the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY ALL AROUND and MEATH were sent for sampling.
