MASSIVE STAR was withdrawn on 22.2.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (cut wound to left fore fetlock) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter WHIPLASH (C K Tong). LIFELINE PEGASUS was withdrawn on 23.2.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter LE ROSSIGNOL (E Wilson). Before being allowed to race again, MASSIVE STAR and LIFELINE PEGASUS will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FEVER PITCH began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and lost ground. EIGHT PLUS NINE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped THUNDER DANCING. From a wide barrier, VIKING TOR was taken across behind runners. DREAM HORSE and THUNDER DANCING hung out making the Home Turn. At the 50 Metres, MY HOME TOWN and ALWAYS GIGGLE bumped due to both horses shifting ground. Throughout the race, FLYING SPRINTER travelled wide and without cover. The performance of CLASSA FOR EVER, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSA FOR EVER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ALWAYS GIGGLE and MY HOME TOWN were sent for sampling.
