CLOVIS was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (injured while being transported to course). Before being allowed to race again, CLOVIS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From a wide barrier, G-ONE LEADING was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FREEBIRD was steadied away from the heels of FRIENDSHIP (Apprentice C W Wong) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. After this, FREEBIRD hung out badly throughout and travelled wide and without cover. The performance of FREEBIRD was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, FREEBIRD will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SOHNA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZING ME. FREEBIRD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FREEBIRD after the race did not show any significant findings. GALLANT FALCON and SOHNA were sent for sampling.
