BRILLIANT FLASH was slow to begin. SOUNDS FANTASTIC began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and bumped BOBO WIN. After the 1200 Metres, MULTI MILLIONS was checked to avoid the heels of POS TRUMPS which at this time came back to allow SOUNDS FANTASTIC to cross. MASTER GUNNER, which was following, was checked in consequence. Approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres, MULTI MILLIONS was carried wider by ALL OUR WAY (Z Purton) which at this time shifted away from the rail behind TRAVEL CONSULTANT. Z Purton was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. CALIFORNIA BISHOP travelled wide and without cover throughout. When questioned, Z Purton said given the horse's prior history of attempting to savage other runners in races, it was felt that the horse would be best suited not racing tight inside other runners if possible. He said he travelled on the rail from barrier 1 in the early stages, however, approaching the 1000 Metres he felt the pace of the race was steadying as the horse he was following, TRAVEL CONSULTANT, came back as a result of FLY ME TO THE MOON steadying. He said because of this he endeavoured to shift out from behind TRAVEL CONSULTANT as he felt it would be in the best interest of his mount. MULTI MILLIONS, TRAVEL CONSULTANT and BRILLIANT FLASH were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MULTI MILLIONS, TRAVEL CONSULTANT and BRILLIANT FLASH after the race did not show any significant findings. MASTER GUNNER, ADD THE FUN and BOBO WIN were sent for sampling.
