ZERO GRAVITY was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease). Before being allowed to race again, ZERO GRAVITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, AURELIAN failed to muster speed. From a wide barrier, NOBLE ZOOM was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. SUPER SPECIAL began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. At the 700 Metres, MUTUAL GAIN was steadied away from the heels of CASH MONEY. Also at the 700 Metres, MAJIN BUU got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SOU MA TAM. After the 600 Metres, UNIVERSAL PIONEER, which had been travelling wide and without cover, was carried wider by TRIUMPHANT GLORY which shifted out while proving difficult to settle when being steadied away from the heels of CARRY THE MAGIC. After this, TRIUMPHANT GLORY travelled wide and without cover. On straightening, AURELIAN became unbalanced when crowded for room between TRIUMPHANT GLORY and K-JACK. For some distance after this, AURELIAN was held up and unable to improve. Approaching the 300 Metres, SUPER SPECIAL had difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, ABLE STANDARD travelled wide and without cover. SUPER SPECIAL and CARRY THE MAGIC were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SUPER SPECIAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of CARRY THE MAGIC after the race did not show any significant findings. TRIUMPHANT GLORY, INVESTAR and MUTUAL GAIN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported NOBLE ZOOM had lost its left front plate.
