CHALLENGER bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. On jumping, CHINSOLA from the outside barrier was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed, then after passing the winning post on the first occasion was taken across behind runners. Making the first turn, MACAROON was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHALLENGER. DANEPRINT, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of MACAROON. At the 1700 Metres, CHALLENGER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FISHKING EXCELLENT. After the 1700 Metres, CAPTAIN BUNNY, which had been travelling wide and without cover, was steadied and taken back to a position behind FLYING PROFILE. Near the 1400 Metres, MASTER ABLE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CAPTAIN BUNNY. In the early part of the Straight, FLYING PROFILE lost ground when travelling behind DONGGUAN VICTORY which commenced to give ground quickly. At the 350 Metres, FLYING PROFILE had difficulty obtaining clear running between CHALLENGER and CAPTAIN BUNNY. In the Straight, RED FORTUNE hung in. The performances of DONGGUAN VICTORY and MASTER ABLE, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DONGGUAN VICTORY and MASTER ABLE will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Boss (RED FORTUNE) was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weal marks on the horse’s right thigh. DONGGUAN VICTORY and CHALLENGER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DONGGUAN VICTORY and CHALLENGER after the race did not show any significant findings. PACIFIC ALLIANCE, NATURAL ECHO and FISHKING EXCELLENT were sent for sampling. Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 25 March 2008) DONGGUAN VICTORY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DONGGUAN VICTORY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. As previously advised, DONGGUAN VICTORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again. Additional Racing Incidents Report (released on 26 March 2008) At the 500 Metres, CHALLENGER was hampered and carried wider by DONGGUAN VICTORY which itself was hampered when bumped by FISHKING EXCELLENT (Apprentice K T Yeung) which shifted out to go forward when not clear. Apprentice Yeung will be severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 450 Metres, MASTER ABLE was steadied away from the heels of CAPTAIN BUNNY (Apprentice K L Chui) which shifted out when not properly clear. Apprentice Chui will be advised to exercise greater care.
