Steward Report Predict Pace Map
ACHILLES OF TROY began awkwardly and lost ground. HONGKONG SUPERSTAR was slow to begin. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, HONGKONG SUPERSTAR was steadied when awkwardly placed inside DIAMOND BRILLIANCE. Near the 700 Metres, ONE WORLD got its head up when being steadied while momentarily crowded inside the hindquarters of DIAMOND BRILLIANCE. HONGKONG SUPERSTAR and WEI HAI INVINCIBLE, which were following, were hampered in consequence. When HONGKONG SUPERSTAR was hampered, HIGH POINT was steadied away from the heels of that horse which in turn caused inconvenience to NOBLE MAN and IRISH JIG which were following. On straightening, HIGH POINT was steadied to avoid the heels of ALWAYS GIGGLE (Y T Cheng) which shifted out when barely clear. Y T Cheng was advised to exercise care. The declaration of weighed-in was deferred as the Stewards were of the opinion an incident occurred near the 300 Metres which cast doubt on whether ONE WORLD ought be declared the winner of the race. Consideration was given to a protest/objection lodged by H W Lai, the rider of DIAMOND BRILLIANCE, 2nd placegetter, against ONE WORLD (D Beadman) being declared the winner for alleged interference near the 300 Metres. The evidence disclosed that near the 300 Metres DIAMOND BRILLIANCE was brushed and carried slightly wider by ONE WORLD which at this time shifted to the outside of KINDACROSS into clear running. As the Stewards, having in mind the manner in which both horses finished the race off, could not be satisfied that had the interference to DIAMOND BRILLIANCE not occurred that that horse would have finished in front of ONE WORLD, the protest/objection was overruled and weighed-in was declared on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge. Subsequently D Beadman was advised to exercise care. Throughout the race, ULTRA FANTASY travelled wide and without cover. Z Purton (NOBLE MAN) reported after the 300 Metres his mount became unbalanced in its action and as he was concerned, he eased his mount down and did not ride it out to the end of the race. NOBLE MAN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE MAN after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of NOBLE MAN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE MAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of HOLI RAVIOLI, D Whyte said his mount sat back as the gates opened and did not begin as well as it has in its recent starts. He said he then made some use of HOLI RAVIOLI to go forward, however, the manner in which the race was run resulted in him travelling three wide without cover. He said HOLI RAVIOLI travelled comfortably in the middle stages, however, did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight. He said in his opinion the tough run endured by HOLI RAVIOLI accounted for the horse’s poor performance. HOLI RAVIOLI was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HOLI RAVIOLI after the race did not show any significant findings. ONE WORLD and DIAMOND BRILLIANCE were sent for sampling.
