Steward Report Predict Pace Map
On jumping, BIG KAHUNA was taken across behind runners. ASIAN CITRUS began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, HAPPY ENERGY lost ground when bumped by CARRY GOOD NEWS which became unbalanced and shifted in when bumped by WINNING AHEAD. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, ASIAN CITRUS got its head up when being steadied while awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUNNY GOLF (D Beadman) which shifted in when barely clear. D Beadman was advised to exercise greater care. At the 900 Metres, after being crossed by SUNNY GOLF, TOWKAY FLYER proved difficult to settle and shifted out. Approaching the Home Turn, CARRY GOOD NEWS was held up on the heels of DIVINE TOUCH, then in the Straight hung in. Throughout the race, HOT SUN travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, G Boss (ASIAN CITRUS) was not able to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said ASIAN CITRUS travelled comfortably behind the lead in the run, however, when shifted into clear running on straightening failed to respond to his riding. ASIAN CITRUS and BIG KAHUNA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ASIAN CITRUS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported BIG KAHUNA had sustained a mild wound to the right front foot coronet. TOWKAY FLYER and SUNNY GOLF were sent for sampling Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 29 May 2008) BIG KAHUNA, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings other than the horse had sustained a mild wound to the right front foot coronet. BIG KAHUNA was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P O'Sullivan this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BIG KAHUNA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
