FORTUNE WARRIOR was slow to begin. SOLAR began awkwardly. From the outside barrier, CHAMPION LAD was taken back in the early stages and then after passing the winning post on the first occasion when travelling in a three wide position was taken back to the rear. At the 600 Metres, CHAMPION LAD was shifted out to go forward around the field. At the 200 Metres, BEST POWER was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, BILLION was steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running between BOBO WIN and ROMANTIC GREEN. D Whyte (KOWLOON FIT) said it was anticipated the horse would travel in a forward position as is usual without being ridden along to do so. He said in the early stages of the race he had to make some use of KOWLOON FIT to go forward and after passing the winning post on the first occasion he had to ride along to clear DON RICARDO. He said at no stage of the race did KOWLOON FIT stride out as he thought it should and after the 200 Metres the horse’s action shortened noticeably and because of this he did not ride his mount out to the end of the race. KOWLOON FIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KOWLOON FIT after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, KOWLOON FIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ROMANTIC GREEN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ROMANTIC GREEN after the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE SILENCE and WONDERFUL BLESSING were sent for sampling.
