LADY FIRST began awkwardly and lost ground. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, KING OF FISH failed to muster speed. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, K-JACK was awkwardly placed between VIENTO and ACTUARIAL TALENT which got its head on the side and hung out. EXPLODING, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of K-JACK. At the 500 Metres, LADY FIRST was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside K-JACK. Prior to straightening, K-JACK was bumped by VIENTO. On straightening, K-JACK was steadied when disappointed for running between LADY FIRST and VIENTO which was carried in by LUCKY TYCOON. At the 100 Metres, VIENTO was steadied away from the heels of SOU MA TAM. W M Lai (LUCKY TYCOON) explained because of today’s wet track conditions, he was asked to ride the horse in a forward position if possible as at its last start when racing on a wet All Weather surface, it did not appreciate the kickback. Apprentice K T Yeung (K-JACK) explained after being disappointed for running on straightening, he commenced riding his mount out with the whip in the left hand. He said K-JACK did not respond to his riding and therefore over about the final 150 Metres he did not persevere in riding his mount out. Apprentice Yeung was told where circumstances permit he would be expected to continue riding his mounts out to the end of the race. K-JACK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of K-JACK after the race did not show any significant findings. SOU MA TAM, RAINBOW OASIS and EXPLODING were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported EXPLODING had lost its left front plate.
