SOU MA TAM began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. FEEL THE FUN was slow to begin and shortly afterwards bumped with CARE FREE MIDAS. In the early stages, from the outside barrier, VIENTO was taken back to a position with cover. Making the Home Turn and in the Home Straight, CARE FREE MIDAS hung in. Passing the 200 Metres, VIENTO hung out. Throughout the race, SAVUTE travelled wide and without cover. C W Wong (ACTIVE VALOUR) explained the intention had been to have the horse ridden in a forward position. He said in the early stages despite being ridden along ACTIVE VALOUR failed to muster speed and drifted back to be at the rear. He said in the Home Straight ACTIVE VALOUR kept on one-paced. He was not able to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. ACTIVE VALOUR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ACTIVE VALOUR after the race did not show any significant findings. SOU MA TAM, THAT'S IT and VIENTO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported THAT'S IT was displaying signs of the “thumps”. Before being allowed to race again, THAT'S IT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
