From the outside barrier and with blinkers removed tonight, with the intention of being ridden quietly, THUNDER FLASH was taken across and behind runners in the early stages. SOLAR MIGHTY began awkwardly and got its head up, then making the turn at the 1000 Metres again got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of VICTORY CONQUEROR. After entering the Back Straight, EXTRA SPECIAL was left racing wide and without cover. Shortly after straightening, SALUT BEAUTE was bumped by EXTRA SPECIAL which in the Straight hung in. When questioned, Y T Cheng (INDUSTRIAL MARVEL) explained in the Straight he rode his mount out hands and heels and used the whip on several occasions in the backhand position. He said INDUSTRIAL MARVEL responded well to his riding without quickening noticeably. Y T Cheng was told to ensure he rides his mounts out in a manner which is not open to query. VICTORY CONQUEROR and SUPER GENERAL were sent for sampling.
