When being saddled, POT OF GOLD became fractious, slipped and fell. POT OF GOLD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. PROFITING CHAMPION began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, HIGH POINT blundered when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY TIME which was carried out by REGENCY HORSE. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MY HOME TOWN was left racing wide and without cover. After the 800 Metres, POT OF GOLD blundered after clipping the heels of GOOD TO GO (M Du Plessis) which got its head on the side and shifted in marginally. In the opinion of the Stewards, it was appropriate that no action would be taken other than M Du Plessis be advised to exercise greater care. On straightening, REGENCY HORSE when endeavouring to shift out from behind MY TIME and TEAM WORK which were commencing to give ground bumped on several occasions with TCHAIKOVSKY. Shortly after this, REGENCY HORSE was checked when disappointed for running between TEAM WORK and TCHAIKOVSKY. In the early part of the Straight, POT OF GOLD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD TO GO. Also in the early part of the Straight, HIGH POINT was held up and unable to improve. For some distance after the 400 Metres, PROFITING CHAMPION was held up and unable to improve. At the 200 Metres, MY TIME and TEAM WORK, which were giving ground, were checked severely when crowded for room inside PROFITING CHAMPION which shifted in after being bumped by REGENCY HORSE which was carried in slightly by DEFERENTIAL (O Doleuze) which had its head on the side, was hanging in and shifted slightly when improving into a narrow run on the inside of HIGH POINT which also shifted in slightly. In the circumstances, it was decided O Doleuze be severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 50 Metres, POT OF GOLD, which had been racing tight inside ALWAYS GIGGLE, was steadied away from the heels of GOOD TO GO which shifted out. POT OF GOLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of POT OF GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. ONE WORLD, TCHAIKOVSKY and HIGH POINT were sent for sampling.
