The Stewards today interviewed Mr T W Leung, trainer of CHEERFUL HAPPINESS, as to the circumstances regarding the horse being entered for this race after having been treated with Vetalog on 3 October 2008. Entries for this racemeeting closed on 6 October 2008 and CHEERFUL HAPPINESS was withdrawn by order of the Stewards prior to declarations for this racemeeting on 9 October 2008. Vetalog is a prohibited substance as defined by the Rules. Mr Leung was fined $10,000 for having breached Rule 74(4) in that he entered CHEERFUL HAPPINESS for this race when it was ineligible to be so entered as a result of having received the above treatment. AURELIAN was slow to begin. HOT SUN began awkwardly and bumped with ELEPHANT STAR. After this, HOT SUN proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Near the 1200 Metres, FANTASTIC TIME was bumped by OCTAGONAL CANYON which had its head on the side and shifted in away from the heels of TIMBER CITY (Y T Cheng) which shifted in when not properly clear. Y T Cheng was advised to exercise care. After the 1200 Metres, FANTASTIC TIME was steadied when awkwardly placed between SUPREME COMMANDER and OCTAGONAL CANYON. From the 300 Metres until the 200 Metres, FIRST KNIGHT was held up and unable to obtain clear running. At the 200 Metres, FIRST KNIGHT was checked when disappointed for running between LIMONCELLO and AURELIAN. Over the final 150 Metres, SIMPLY THE BEST had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race. For the majority of the race, NOBLE ZOOM travelled wide and without cover. Throughout the race, LIMONCELLO travelled wide and without cover. ZERO GRAVITY, AURELIAN and SUPREME COMMANDER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported LIMONCELLO had lost its right front plate.
