With the intention of being ridden quietly, BUNDLE O' GOLD on jumping was taken back. PERFECT STYLE was slow into stride. Shortly after the start, CHATER POWER lost ground when awkwardly placed between HIT SONG and REGENCY HORSE. In the early stages, PERFECT STYLE proved very difficult to settle, near the 900 Metres became unbalanced, blundered, then continued to prove difficult to settle and making the turn at the 800 Metres was checked severely to avoid the heels of ROYAL PERICLES which when proving difficult to settle got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of REGENCY HORSE. When being checked, PERFECT STYLE shifted out and hampered LOLLIPOP, causing that horse to be carried wider. On straightening, PERFECT STYLE became unbalanced after being bumped by DOUBLE LUCK which shifted out to improve. LOLLIPOP, which was following, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of PERFECT STYLE. At the 300 Metres, IRISH JIG was steadied and shifted to the inside of REGENCY HORSE to obtain clear running. After the 300 Metres, PERFECT STYLE became unbalanced after being bumped by BUNDLE O' GOLD. Near the finish, RICE FIELD improved close to the heels of DOUBLE LUCK. Throughout the race, NORMAN INVADER travelled wide and without cover. LOLLIPOP and PERFECT STYLE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, LOLLIPOP was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT STYLE after the race did not show any significant findings. IRISH JIG, REGENCY HORSE and DOUBLE LUCK were sent for sampling.
