BE MY SONG, which was fractious in its stall, lifted its front feet off the ground as the gates opened and was slow into stride. PACHINKO began awkwardly and lost ground. On jumping, ALL PROFIT became unbalanced when crowded for room between SOU MA TAM and GOLDEN BOY. From wide barriers, AMITYSHIP and LANCELOT were taken back. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, GREAT UNITY was steadied and taken back to a position with cover. In the early part of the Straight, WONDERFUL GAINS had difficulty obtaining clear running, then near the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of TRUE INTELLIGENCE to continue going forward. Near the 300 Metres, GREAT UNITY, which was held up and unable to obtain clear running, was checked to avoid the heels of SHINING DRAGON which commenced to give ground. Just prior to the winning post, SOU MA TAM and TRUE INTELLIGENCE bumped. Throughout the race, SHINING DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. The performance of GOLDEN BOY, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN BOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GO LUCKY GO, PACHINKO and WONDERFUL GAINS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BE MY SONG had bled from both nostrils.
